The joint initiative introduces the Optical Threat Isolation System (O.T.I.S.), a ROS-native computer vision override designed to mathematically defeat the emerging "Flytrap" umbrella attack and associated optical camouflage tactics targeting defense drones.
As detailed in recent defense sector cybersecurity analysis, standard Autonomous Target Tracking (ATT) algorithms possess a critical blindspot. Rogue operators have begun deploying high-contrast adversarial umbrellas—commonly referred to as "Flytraps"—to intentionally confuse a tracking drone's RGB depth perception.
This optical spoofing technique triggers a Distance-Pulling Attack (DPA). By manipulating the bounding-box algorithms of the ATT matrix, the adversarial umbrella tricks the defense drone into believing the target is further away than it actually is. This forces the drone to continuously close the distance, drawing the hardware directly into a physical capture or destruction radius orchestrated by the hostile operator.
Recognizing that standard camera feeds could no longer be trusted in complex spatial engagements, SkyGuard's Cognitive Defense Division partnered with InSitu Labs to bypass optical illusions entirely. O.T.I.S. integrates directly into standard Robot Operating System (ROS) architectures, acting as an enterprise-grade photogrammetry overlay.
Instead of processing surface-level imagery, O.T.I.S. continuously generates a structural X-Ray of the battlefield using Live Depth Perception (DP) meshes. When the system detects the geometric anomaly signature of a Flytrap umbrella, it instantly strips away the visual noise, isolates the target's raw structural math, and calculates a targeted kinetic intercept—neutralizing the threat before the DPA can pull the drone into the danger zone.
The O.T.I.S. architecture is currently available for technical review by cleared defense contractors and facility security directors.
